We will work through blocks that keep you in cycles of depression,
anxiety
, self-doubt and self-sabotage.
You are brave, curious and brilliant but feel like you are an imposter and never good enough. You have tried people pleasing and a relentless pursuit of self-improvement strategies but can’t shake off the feeling of not being worthy. You long for true belonging, confidence and to live your most authentic expression by releasing old patterns that no longer serve you. You are not alone. I believe that we all have inherent within us expansive wisdom, and capacity to heal. We can't always access our truest Self because of past trauma, societal pressures and habitual patterns that keep us disengaged from our true nature.

Anxiety
, depression, relationships, adult ADD, and mind-body connections are issues with which I find I am most involved within my practice.
I believe that feeling heard, understood, and validated is the first step to a therapeutic relationship in which growth to one's potential can occur. Recognition and affirmation of strengths is important to my approach. Being sensitive to an individual's life experience is central to good work. I focus on one's feelings, thoughts, stressors and resources, as well as try to understand the history from which issues evolve. I apply a variety of approaches including cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based, and psychodynamic. I have many years of experience working with individuals with a wide array of concerns.

Are you having difficulty returning to work, school, or spending time in public due to worries about COVID19 or social
anxiety
? Has the pandemic exacerbated
anxiety
and obsessive thinking about health issues? The world is ready to reopen but maybe you aren’t quite there yet (and that’s okay!) and don’t know how to navigate it. Or, are you a young adult experiencing
anxiety
, depression, and/or OCD? Life after high school, during college, and after college can be stressful and high pressure, as are the huge decisions that come with it. I call these “life transitions” and they can often exacerbate mood symptoms and open up old wounds.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
