I practice psychotherapy with great respect for the dignity and creativity of the human mind. Since no two people are alike, no two therapies are alike. While some in my practice are more solution oriented and some focus more on depth, all in my work focus on gaining insight into internal conflicts, feelings and behaviors that cause you distress. This psychodynamic approach, by resolving old issues opens up new choices and opportunities in a way that solid research shows lasts. During stressful times, it's easy to lose your bearings and feel at sea. While family or friends can offer support, sometimes you need a different kind of help. That's when working with a therapist can make a difference. For over 17 years, I have been helping people restore hope and get back to feeling like themselves again.
Trained in psychedelic-assisted therapy, I offer both preparation and integration sessions for those interested in support for processing psychedelic experiences. Grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), I also work with adults to develop the insight and skills needed for emotional healing, desired change, and growth. DBT is helpful in replacing unwanted thoughts and behaviors with healthy and adaptive alternatives. CFT combines multiple therapeutic models for the purpose of over coming self-criticism and enhancing our ability to experience contentment.

Congratulations on your decision to seek therapy. You have made a valuable decision to honor your inner needs and feelings. It is my belief that all individuals have a desire to live a meaningful and purposeful life, yet sometimes become "stuck" in unhealthy ways of thinking about themselves and their circumstances. My approach involves the integration of Afrocentric practices, Mindfulness-based practices, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. You know yourself best. So, therapy is viewed as a collaborative process where the client and I work together to discover solutions to life's challenges.
Are you a caretaker experiencing depression, stress or resentment towards your loved one? Have you been actively using substances or had a recent slip in use after years of being in recovery? Do you find yourself engaging in emotional eating or caloric restriction? Are you in need of emotional support after terminating a pregnancy? Has something occurred that caused you to start anew? Do you need a supportive ear that will listen and allow you to express your thoughts and feelings? Are you seeking skills to help you cope with everyday issues? Asking for help can be scary, but trying to go it alone can be even scarier.
I have been in the field of social work since 2007, and my approach focuses on healing obstacles to attaining peace and satisfaction in your life. My style of practice is relational, and my aim is to offer expert support as you navigate challenges at your own pace. I specialize in working with individuals and couples who feel disconnected, specifically those who have experienced trauma and contend with its impact on their sense of wellbeing. I often have success working with people who have had unsatisfying therapy experiences, and my clients include therapists, abuse survivors, teachers, and first responders.

Welcome to Serenity Helping Hands Therapy Center, LLC. We live in a world of constant change and increasing challenges. Sometimes the changes and challenges of life can become too overwhelming. Many times the answer to the various issues we face lies within us and we just need a safe place to express our thoughts, issues, and feelings without judgment. Whatever brings you here, our agency believes in using a holistic approach in treating a wide variety of therapeutic challenges.
Every stage in life, every situation we face, brings with it challenges, hardships and opportunities. The psychotherapeutic process brings focus and awareness to where we are now in our lives, where we've been, and the person we want to be. I see the therapeutic process as a journey that we take together. Whether you are an adult, adolescent, or family, my goal is to create a safe, caring, non-judgmental environment where you can explore relationship dynamics, patterns of behavior, identity, and opportunities for growth and change.
Do you miss the easy way you both would listen and understand each other? Would you like your communication to solve problems instead of start conflicts? When you reach out with a need is it answered? The focus of my practice is relationships, for couples, individuals, and families. Finding ourselves in recurring conflicts and stalemates at home can create a hopeless place, accompanied by feelings of anger, confusion, and loneliness. Through therapy, we can learn to communicate clearly, state our needs, and rebuild trust. Let's work together to unravel the stuck place you're in and rewrite the script for greater joy and connection.
What might be possible for you, as a unique and whole person? I bring Polyvagally-informed skillsets of neurophysiology. Our body and our story shape who we are always becoming. Memory is lived and stored in our bodies, as a living process of who we are. Our autonomic nervous system is nature’s internal information and coordinating system. It is a practical guide to understand what we feel in our body and how that influences us moment to moment.
We all suffer, and we all have to cope with it. I can help relieve people of suffering caused by maladaptive patterns of feeling, thinking and behaving that they have been conditioned to repeat over time. I do this by building a relationship with them, then allowing that relationship to be the template for healthy interactions in life and a realistic perception of themselves and their situation.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with over thirty years of experience providing strategic therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and family therapy to adults, children, adolescents and families.
