You're here because you've tried talking to friends and family; you've tried self-help books and podcasts; you've tried meditation and exercise…you’ve maybe even tried therapy before. You've tried to do it alone. And yet, you are still struggling with anxiety or your mood; struggling with your relationships; struggling as a parent; struggling in your profession, your sport or your craft. Your worries don’t stop, you imagine the worst, somehow you never feel good enough no matter what you accomplish. You are not alone! More importantly, it’s not your fault! I have been there as have all of my clients.

As an emerging therapist and lifelong learner in the field of psychology, I approach each session with curiosity, humility, and a deep respect for the therapeutic process. While I may be early in my professional journey, I find that each client interaction offers a valuable opportunity for growth—not just for the client, but for myself as well. This reciprocal learning process reinforces my belief that therapy is a shared space where both participants evolve.

Over the course of my career I have become increasingly aware of a demand in the community for Sex Therapy, and have decided to recalibrate my practice accordingly. I am engaged in a comprehensive training program facilitated by the Sexual Health Alliance on my path to becoming an AASECT-certified Sex Therapist. My background in substance abuse and trauma has largely informed this decision. I continue to serve individuals seeking to manage compulsive behaviors, AD(H)D, anxiety disorders, and mood symptoms through this transition to a sex-centered practice.

Normal life events can be stressful when they exceed your ability to cope. Losses like the death of a loved one, separation/divorce, relocation or retirement, or an "empty nest" may threaten your emotional and physical health. Even positive events like marriage or the birth of a child require substantial adjustment. While small amounts of stress can be a positive motivator, prolonged exposure to stress may lead to anxiety, depression, and physical health problems. If you are feeling overwhelmed or unsure of how to cope with the demands placed on you, it is probably time to see a therapist.

My path to becoming a counselor grew out of my background in music and education, where I first discovered how powerful it can be when people feel seen, heard, and supported. Today, I bring that same belief into my work with clients of all ages. Implementing various self-reflection exercises can help you gain deeper self-awareness & understanding. This may be through journaling prompts, mindfulness practices, or guided visualization exercises tailored to your needs and preferences. The use of self-care strategies and positivity exercises that bring joy, relaxation, & rejuvenation, setting boundaries, and practicing self-compassion.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
