If your are suffering from anxiety, panic attacks, OCD symptoms, depression, or the effects of a psychological trauma, you may have been looking for help for a long time. Maybe you have been drinking or engaging in other forms of self-medication. Maybe someone close to you has encouraged you to get help, or maybe your problems have become so unbearable that you realize its time to seek help. Maybe you have seen other professionals, but are still unsure of your diagnosis and can't see a path forward. Maybe you have tried medication and didn't get help there either. You need real help.

Hello, I am a licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Maryland and New York. I received Master Degree in 2018. I have worked with various individuals, including depression, anxiety, bipolar, addiction, substance abuse, and communication challenges. All these individuals have one thing in common: they want to be heard and have a safe place to speak their truth. I find that it is an honor to be able to listen to and collaborate with clients on their sensitive issues.

How long has it been since you've felt joy? Have you ever felt empty, as though a part of you is missing? Are you often disappointed in your relationships? In an effort to fill the void, do you find yourself turning to food, overworking, or shopping, but without relief? Are you so hard on yourself that you find it difficult to risk change? In our very busy world, we often lose touch with ourselves and our own healing abilities. We can often feel as though we're caught up in a whirlwind, helpless to get out.

Perhaps your life looks great on paper (a great job, awesome friends, and a lovely home), but you feel empty inside. It's confusing... you did everything society told you to do to be successful, yet you still don't feel happy or fulfilled. I see you. And you're right: There's more to your existence than paying bills & doing laundry. Your soul wanted this human experience & it's time to remember why you're here. Let's walk together for this part of your journey. It's therapy, but with a soulful twist. You'll feel clear on who you are and what your next steps are to live an authentic and joyful life.

“Life is hard.” This is a quote that I heard from my then 6-year-old niece. She was talking about the unfairness of having to room with her sister, but her words ring true no matter what age we are. Sometimes we start to feel weighed down by stress, anxiety, depression, or the expectations of others, among many other things. Sometimes we feel stuck and don’t know what to do. It can be hard to reach out for help, but there is no shame in it.

Feeding is often times taken for granted. It is something many children acquire and maintain naturally; however, this is not the case for everyone. Children with feeding disorders may eat extremely limited diets, need supplemental nutrition through feeding tubes or specialized formulas, require table foods to be blended or manipulated to a lower texture, and/or depend upon others to feed them. Though feeding disorders can be multifaceted, including having medical, nutritional, and oral-motor components, psychsocial or behavioral difficulties are also at the forefront of many feeding challenges.

We all face experiences that are often difficult, painful, and even traumatic. So many of us face these situations feeling alone, overwhelmed, ashamed, and vulnerable. I believe healing and transformation comes from within, by reconnecting with our inner wisdom, becoming more self-aware, and growing more in self-love and compassion. Pain and vulnerability can also teach us a lot about ourselves and be incredibly healing. If you are struggling with relationship problems, life transitions, depression, anxiety, past traumas, feel stuck, or grieving the loss of a loved one, I can help you face these challenges.

Locally owned, welcoming practice. Are you the good kid? The one who tried to do everything right so no one could get mad at you? Now you walk through life with an underlying anxiety and sadness that won't let go. Friends and family can feel like an obligation because you have so little left to give. You've lost your peace despite your best efforts to give back and put others first. Is there any room left for you? Finding trust and a genuine level of comfort with a new therapist can be hard. I have clients who have worked with me for decades but I am not everyone's cup of tea. So who am I you might ask? Would we click?

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
