My trauma -informed theoretical orientation is grounded in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, which focuses on mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Welcome to counseling! I’m glad you are here. My goal is to meet you where you are and serve as an ally in your therapy journey. A typical session with me is collaborative, psychoeducational, and constructive with a healthy dose of humor. I help clients develop insight into old patterns that may have helped them in the past but are no longer serving them in the present. I support clients as they accept what is, identify alternative pathways, and commit to change. Informed by the trauma response, I teach clients skills to regulate their nervous system and catalyze their brain’s natural neuroplasticity.

I am qualified to provide Trauma -Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Language & words matter. We define ourselves & our worldview with our words. How do we talk to ourselves? What does our inner critic sound like? Is that voice in your mind coming from you, or someone else? Is that voice supporting your goals, or keeping you stuck? The voice in our head and the words it speaks to us are habitual; it can cause a negative cycle if not explored. Therapy is an opportunity to engage in a healing relationship with that voice in your head. I am here to support you, guide you through that journey, and help break that negative cycle.

I assist children, adults, and families in gaining an understanding of how trauma and daily stress may manifest in typical presentations such as anxiety, depression, and behavioral challenges.
Managing the stressors that life throws at us can be challenging! The path through life is rarely smooth, and we all navigate the terrain in our own, unique ways. Often, we have the tools to manage the obstacles on our own; other times, that path is wide enough to allow support from others as we move forward. Still other times, we can’t even find the path! I strive to promote an environment in which clients feel safe to share experiences at their own pace and without judgment. I believe that a genuine approach, supported by evidenced-based treatment models, cultivates the rapport necessary to promote positive change.

I am experienced working with diverse populations and a wide range of issues including trauma , anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, eating issues, parenting problems, career difficulties, and with federal government employees.
Hello and Welcome! Relationships are key to understanding who we are. From birth to the present, our past relationships affect our current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. At some point in life, most of us encounter personal roadblocks that create stress and unhappiness, overwhelm our coping mechanisms and undermine growth. Psychotherapy is a resource to help people heal, learn new skills, and develop greater self-awareness and strength. I offer clinical expertise to provide guidance, new perspectives, and to raise awareness of root issues that may be behind current problems. Together we will address these problems and underlying dynamics.

I have worked with parents who are having familial issues, or going through major life transitions, children with trauma , people who are in active addiction and/or recovery, middle aged adults who are trying to navigate through life, etc.
Therapy is becoming more and more common to help individuals find a balance in their personal and professional lives. Many people are looking for therapist who are relatable, makes them feel safe, and validate their feelings. Additionally due to my cultural background, I offer services for people who are struggling with assimilating to American culture. I am currently accepting new clients.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
