As a certified trauma therapist, my practice focuses on grief and loss and complex/attachment trauma, utilizing a client centered/strengths based approach, utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), internal family systems (IFS), and mindfulness, with an attachment and
somatic
focus.
Accepting new clients- scheduling for April/May. The relationship between therapist and client is one that is unique, vulnerable and brave, built on attunement, trust, and compassion in a nonjudgmental and warm space. My practice is deeply rooted in meeting each of my clients where they are on their journey, empowering them to utilize their voice and work on treatment goals that are important to them. Therapy looks different for everyone, and I am here to help sit alongside this journey with you, when you are ready.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC, LCPC) and psychodynamic, narrative and
somatic
therapist, my goal is to explore the stories you tell about your life and how they influence how you feel and what you see as possible.
Are you feeling stuck, anxious or discouraged? Feeling unfulfilled or overwhelmed? Are there issues from the past that seem to intrude into your present life? Do you isolate and avoid? Are you experiencing difficulties with depression, anxiety, relationships, work or sleep issues? You can find relief and move forward in your life. Looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation? Are you considering a move in a new direction?

With my background in holistic health, Ayurvedic medicine, meditation and yoga, I bring an integrative and
somatic
style to my practice.
Whether your challenge comes from a past or recent trauma, relationship or interpersonal issues, addictions, issues of loss and letting go, anxiety, depression or just general life-confusion, there are many tools to employ to recover and reset yourself. And doing it with a supportive partner can make all the difference. Therapy is a chance to get to know yourself on a more intimate level, to bring balance to the body, mind and daily habits, clarify values and goals and get you moving in a direction that brings light, joy and purpose back to living. It teaches you grounding, new perspectives and new coping skills.

I know that each person I work with is individual, so I draw upon a range of modalities including attachment-based therapies and
somatic
practices.
I believe one of the most healing things we can do is begin to understand our stories and how it affects our everyday life and relationships. Many of us carry our past traumas into our present-day lives. These traumas can manifest in many different ways such as anxiety, emotional numbness or relationship challenges. The clients I work with have oftentimes experienced complex relational traumas in childhood and dysfunctional family dynamics. Through these difficult experiences, we oftentimes develop coping strategies and protective behaviors. These strategies were often helpful and necessary but may no longer be serving you now.

We work on psychological issues through traditional talk therapy PLUS
somatic
work.
What if everything we’ve been taught about life is a myth? What if the traditional formula for health and happiness doesn’t pertain to you? Are those rules about fitting into someone else’s version of what life should be? Do those rules inspire you, or do they keep your life - and your dreams - small? Solving problems in your head is an old-school and outdated strategy. Accessing the wisdom of the body is the new paradigm. At Next Generation Core, we will dig deeper to build a growth mindset.

I can help you connect to your body and authentic self through
somatic
therapy, parts work, and strengths-based therapy.
Are you feeling stuck? Disconnected from your body? Living life in survival mode? Maybe there's always been a sense of anxiety in the background. You find yourself always needing to be busy, going, and doing to distract. Or, you may find yourself frozen for long periods of time; time slips away. Maybe you feel burnt out, drained. Perhaps you want more connection in your life - to your authentic self, to others, and your body. You want to be able to speak your truth and live your life from a place of connectedness rather than disconnectedness.

In today's world, there is little time for reflection, for nurturing relationships, mentoring our children, or caring for our elderly parents. We often need a refuge from the confusion we experience in our daily lives, a time to clarify what's important and what's not important, as well as a safe place to begin making changes. I offer psychotherapeutic services based on the interrelation of body, mind, and emotion. Together, we will endeavor to examine our feelings and link them to words, connecting personal history with current life events and relationships.

Are you struggling with an important relationship in your life? Misunderstandings and conflict with individuals we love and/or with whom we’re in regular contact can cause us tremendous emotional, and even physical, distress. I specialize in helping clients consider themselves and their troubled relationship through a different lens. We will focus on how the relationship is “bogging down” and help you work through distressing thoughts and feelings that come with it. We may also look at patterns of relating and communicating in the relationship, including boundary setting or lack thereof, that may benefit from some heathy tweaking.

I am a strong believer in therapy being a collaborative, healing, and restorative experience. As Pema Chödrön once said, “Let difficulty transform you. And it will. In my experience, we just need help in learning how to not run away.” But that’s easier said than done – what are the steps to getting to a better place? Where do you even start? You are not alone in this journey. I take great pride in building a therapeutic connection and a safe space for you to be your genuine self so that you may find that resiliency within.

I specialize in betrayal trauma, affair recovery for couples, as well as sex and porn addiction for male/female and Mother Hunger. Have you hit the “work required” part of your relationship? I am trained to address intimacy issues and support you to restore healing and peace. Our space will be a place where we work to understand the "why" around what is happening in your life and where we identify how to change what isn't working for you. Once we understand these origins, we can help you to highlight your strengths while overcoming the hurdles and challenges that are in the way of your life goals, happiness, and daily peace.

Do you feel like no one gets it? Better yet, no one gets YOU, not even yourself? Do you find yourself in the same cycles of bad habits, relationships, negative thoughts, personal crisis and just feel like the proverbial hamster on a wheel? Are you sick of the sound of your own voice saying you want things to change but they never do? Do you feel misunderstood and frustrated and maybe you're not sure what else to do or where else to turn? Do you feel like you've fallen into your life rather than created it? Maybe you feel like you want to change and don't know where to start? Do you want to feel seen, heard, healed, and hopeful?

Hello and Welcome! Relationships are key to understanding who we are. From birth to the present, our past relationships affect our current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. At some point in life, most of us encounter personal roadblocks that create stress and unhappiness, overwhelm our coping mechanisms and undermine growth. Psychotherapy is a resource to help people heal, learn new skills, and develop greater self-awareness and strength. I offer clinical expertise to provide guidance, new perspectives, and to raise awareness of root issues that may be behind current problems. Together we will address these problems and underlying dynamics.

Therapy is an invitation to learn about ourselves and our world. This search, both joyful and difficult, can be hard to tackle alone. In therapy we explore together the questions that confront us, such as: Who am I? Why do I often act in ways I can’t explain? How can I learn to feel comfortable in my own skin? How can I find greater meaning in my work? Why is it sometimes difficult to love the people close to me? How can I imagine a new way of living? Delving into these questions with a therapist can help clear away impediments and give us courage to live, love, and learn well.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
