As we navigate daily life sometimes we come across rough waters that overwhelm us, leaving us feeling adrift, without direction or purpose, even stranded and alone. Finding the "right" direction can be petrifying! In both my professional and private life, I've learned that getting support is integral to finding our way again. I am passionate about helping adults and couples learn new skills, uncover new perspectives, connect with a source of strength, and choose a more authentic path. Idea clients include caregiver burnout, young adult transition, parenting and Adult ADHD.

I strive to assist clients with bouncing back from life experiences such as unhealthy relationships, grief and loss, trauma, identity/ spiritual issues and parenting .
I am a licensed professional counselor who is a Christian. I understand how important it is to have a Christian counselor. If this is something you want to integrate into your counseling process I am able to do this and can use the Bible and your relationship with God to help you with whatever struggles you have. Integrating God and your beliefs is not a requirement to have counseling, but it is something I can offer. You can be yourself without fear of judgment when working with me. I respect your faith and denominational differences. I don’t have an agenda nor am I preachy.

As a fellow parent , I understand that there is no greater pleasure than to see your child happy and healthy. But excessive worrying, relentlessly demanding OCD rituals, the fear of vomiting, social anxiety, and self-harming behaviors like hair pulling and skin picking can rip away the joy of childhood and bring anguish to the family. I am a warm, compassionate, and very active cognitive-behavioral therapist with many years of success in helping children and teens recover from these challenges. I work as a team with parents, including them in at least part of every session.

You want to be a better human, parent , and partner.
Has the manageable become unmanageable? Are you forgetting things? Is your to-do list not getting done? And then, do you feel guilt, shame, anxiety, sheer panic, when in the heck will you get all this shit done and why haven’t you gotten it done already? Your inner voice says “what’s wrong with you?” “why are you so lazy?”. Everyone else seems to have have their shit together, why don’t you? You feel like you are just a mess - literally or figuratively or both.

I am experienced working with diverse populations and a wide range of issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, eating issues, parenting problems, career difficulties, and with federal government employees.
Hello and Welcome! Relationships are key to understanding who we are. From birth to the present, our past relationships affect our current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. At some point in life, most of us encounter personal roadblocks that create stress and unhappiness, overwhelm our coping mechanisms and undermine growth. Psychotherapy is a resource to help people heal, learn new skills, and develop greater self-awareness and strength. I offer clinical expertise to provide guidance, new perspectives, and to raise awareness of root issues that may be behind current problems. Together we will address these problems and underlying dynamics.

AlsoI'm now working w adult child / parent estrangement as I lost my own adults son for over three gutwrenching . Heartbreaking years. I followed the teachings of Dr. Josh Coleman and we are now talking. I am joyful. I never thought the day would come. If you're hurting similarly, please come see me, as much of how I can help is to tell you what NOT to do. The TO DO options are more limited but don't ever lose hope. 3 years is a long time, many birthdays, Mother's Days, etc. do not live alone w this tradgedy'

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
