I believe in a holistic approach to psychotherapy. Psychotherapy creates a safe space for wounded people to work toward healing within the security of the therapeutic relationship. I understand your problems through both clinical and spiritual perspectives. I believe that true healing and freedom come through faith in Christ Jesus so I am guided by the Holy Spirit within my clinical approach. I believe in the Biblical truth of John 8:36, "Whom the Son sets free is truly free indeed". My therapeutic practice reflects that freedom and healing are possible for all clients who are bound by psychological pain and trauma.

Warmth, authenticity and connection, plus a little bit (sometimes a lot) of laughter are the hallmarks of my practice. I focus on establishing and maintaining a safe, trusting relationship with every client because I believe through connection there is healing. I specialize in helping clients in transition - separation, divorce, empty nesting, college-to-adulting - the major life changes where we often find ourselves questioning, doubting, or just wondering. Helping others discover their own "Ah-ha" moments is what makes me a great therapist.

Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or frustrated by patterns that seem to repeat no matter how much effort they put in. You may function well on the outside while feeling emotionally disconnected, uncertain, or exhausted underneath it all. I offer a supportive and thoughtful space to slow things down and make sense of what is happening beneath the surface. Together, we explore emotional patterns, relationship dynamics, and internal experiences that may be shaping how you show up in your life, often without conscious awareness.

I also value marriage and the family and want to help couples work through their issues and see them grow in their ability to communicate and resolve the conflicts that are bound to happen in relationships.
I love this quote from Leslie Vernick. " Marriage is a relationship where two people make promises and commitments. When one breaks his or her promise or is faithless, the relationship fractures. The good news is that the fracture can be healed through confession, personal repentance, and forgiveness."

Reaching out for therapy can feel daunting, especially when you’ve spent a lot of time managing and navigating everyday stressors on your own. I can understand the struggle to ask for help in environments where strength is often measured by how much you can handle. My goal is to create a space where you can take a breath, slow down, and reconnect with what truly supports you, not just what keeps you going. My approach is conversational, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity. You can expect a non-judgmental space centered on honesty, warmth, and partnership as we explore what’s working, what’s not, and what feels stuck.

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
