This is a space for willful souls to embark on adventurous endeavors, discover meaning from life experiences & transform tragedy into triumph.
I strive to help individuals & couples to overcome obstacles stemming from past trauma, confront challenges in the present, & achieve milestones which inspires them to face the future, self-assured. I provide a supportive platform for clients to become aware of subconscious patterns (thoughts, behaviors, reactions), identify as well as take responsibility of that which is in their control, make a personal commitment to course correct, & learn ways to cope with the discomfort of change. This can require you to use both your internal & external resources, purposefully & productively, for the wellbeing and improvement of your life .

I will work with you to explore how you can overcome some of life 's toughest moments and build resilience along the way.
The clients I work with are those committed to better health. My clients are those seeking health in their relationships, mood, body, mind and spirit. I work with those that are coping with traumatic experiences, grief, loss, and conflict. When we start therapy, we are getting to know each other. I will take the time to learn all about you, your environment and what challenges you are facing. Then we develop goals together that you want to achieve during therapy. From there I can develop a tailored plan to help you find the life you seek.

Want to change your life , but not sure about (or done with) conventional therapy? Want less talk and more action? A holistic approach? I combine coaching , energetic, and therapeutic techniques to help clients solve problems by quickly figuring out what's keeping them from getting what they want out of life , "healing" the past, and changing limiting beliefs, troubling emotions, and unwanted behaviors. Clients (including therapists) describe me as "compassionate, knowledgeable, dedicated, perceptive, productive. . . " And while I don't take insurance, I try to be affordable to anyone who thinks I might be right for them.

Hi, I'm Shawna! Congratulations on taking the first step towards making some life changes. I understand because I've been there. Sometimes we all need a little support in achieving our goals. That’s just fine because life can be overwhelming. Often we just need a bit of guidance finding the answers that are already inside of us and that’s when coaching can be helpful. The coaching process works well in any area of your life you want to develop or change. The hardest part is taking the first step.

Mindfulness - a way of paying attention to ourselves in a non-judgemental way in order to understand our responses to life - is one valuable tool I teach.
Loving well and living fully - learning to live with changes in our lives with grace, wisdom and compassion - is what most of us wish for. And yet, the struggles of everyday life leave many of us feeling fearful, worried or sad and sometimes disconnected or alone. One valuable way to discover how to draw on your natural resilience to meet the challenges of life is to participate in psychotherapy. Therapy is an active partnership - where both people are listening and exploring, investigating and discovering those parts of your life that are causing suffering and difficulties - and then finding the ways to heal those places.

"Fear lives in the head. And courage lives in the heart. The job is to get from one to the other" - Louis Penny. It is inevitable that we will be wounded during the journey of life . Many of those wounds generally heal on their own. However some wounds cut deeper. They are unable to heal themselves and leave scars causing broken relationships, anxiety, addiction, insecurity, fear, and pain. Facing these wounds can be frightening and overwhelming, especially when facing them alone. Together we find the courage and strength to face and heal these wounds.

I’m an expected LMSW (June 2023) and Certified Health and Life Coach since 2018.
When you’re going through a challenging time and are looking to experience change, it’s normal to feel overwhelmed by everything you “should” be doing to achieve your goals. I strongly believe that “small hinges swing big doors”. Change happens incrementally, not overnight. I enjoy supporting adolescents & adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, people-pleasing tendencies, life transitions, stress-management, and emotional dysregulation.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
