Are you struggling to find balance in your life? Are you feeling sad, anxious, out of control and that you don't know which way to go? By building relationships, I work with clients to create and effectively implement counseling goals which empower them to confront their challenges. I help clients to explore past and present struggles in a safe place without judgement or bias. relationship
challenges, eating issues, parenting problems, career difficulties, and with federal government employees.
Hello and Welcome! Relationships are key to understanding who we are. From birth to the present, our past relationships affect our current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. At some point in life, most of us encounter personal roadblocks that create stress and unhappiness, overwhelm our coping mechanisms and undermine growth. Psychotherapy is a resource to help people heal, learn new skills, and develop greater self-awareness and strength. I offer clinical expertise to provide guidance, new perspectives, and to raise awareness of root issues that may be behind current problems. Together we will address these problems and underlying dynamics.

I strive to help individuals &
couples
to overcome obstacles stemming from past trauma, confront challenges in the present, & achieve milestones which inspires them to face the future, self-assured. I provide a supportive platform for clients to become aware of subconscious patterns (thoughts, behaviors, reactions), identify as well as take responsibility of that which is in their control, make a personal commitment to course correct, & learn ways to cope with the discomfort of change. This can require you to use both your internal & external resources, purposefully & productively, for the wellbeing and improvement of your life.

I have worked with adolescents, adults,
couples
, and families to educate them on why these patterns begin and how to develop healthier behaviors.
“Knowledge is only rumor until it lives in the muscle.” This proverb from the Asaro tribe of Papua New Guinea is the foundation of how we bring what we learn into a lived experience and create lasting change. We can read books, watch videos, and make resolutions but until we truly move forward in a different way, we run the risk of getting stuck in old patterns. My goal is to help uncover the root causes that lead to the use of substances or behaviors that become detrimental to the spirit and values in the individual. Reclaiming these values and rebuilding self-esteem is possible and begins with a decision to seek help.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
