I am highly trained in conducting school neuropsychological evaluations and have experience evaluating children, adolescents and adults with a variety of needs, including Emotional Disabilities, ADHD , Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, and Learning Disabilities such as Dyslexia.
My experience working as a school psychologist as well as private practice gives me the unique ability to provide comprehensive evaluations of a wide range of disabilities. Additionally, you do not have to navigate the challenging world of special education alone as I strive to help families understand the process and advocate for your child using a collaborate approach. I also evaluate adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, social skills, or other life challenges. It is my job to discover the root of the problem and develop targeted interventions, so you can treat the main issue and not just the symptoms!

In working with youth and families in different capacities I have come to help youth and families and couples work through the pain of the past specifically dealing with divorce, ADHD , family dynamics and dysfunction, depression and anxiety.
In life there are many awesome and beautiful things to see and do, but there are also many challenges and pain in life. As I have worked with youth and families for over 15 years, I have come to understand that deep down everyone wants to thrive through being loved and to love others, but that often hurt and pain from our younger days place us in a position of just surviving. My hope is to help youth, families and couples to heal from these wounds to move toward thriving.

I now offer {onsite} Neurofeedback, a noninvasive treatment proven to effectively treat ADD and ADHD .
When beginning therapy one should understand that the first session is utilized by both clinician and client to determine if the match is a good one. Also, new clients should not worry about sharing enough details. All that is required will come out naturally. Whether you are on welfare, drive a truck, or are a lawyer; in therapy everyone is the same. We all find ourselves, at times, facing problems we just can't resolve. Often the key lies in the subconscious mind. The structured nature of authentic psychotherapy leads to awareness and the opportunity to change one's life.

I serve clients who struggle with anxiety, ADHD / ADD , depression, self-esteem, and suicidal thoughts. Artistic talent is not needed for Art Therapy. Sometimes, feelings are just hard to put into words, so creating art helps people identify and share how they feel. My theoretical views are based off of Cognitive Behavioral Theory in which our thoughts, emotions and behaviors have a cyclical effect on each other. In order to change our behavior, we must first learn how our thoughts affect our emotions and vice versa.

I have been working with clients with various needs ranging from ADHD , to anxiety, depression, mood, personality and traumatic experiences, to help them as I approach with an open mind and kind, non-judgmental regard for all.
There are times when we outgrow our current coping skills and need to refocus our energy and will. Balancing our ways we survive is key by using different strategies and techniques that are carved out for each one of us. Being an art therapist and a clinical social worker, I believe that in my work with children, adolescents, and adults a way exists in finding the best self that is somewhere within themselves. Using cognitive behavioral therapy with a client-centered focus, I can join with and provide an outlet for clients to share experiences and work together to foster an improved sense of self and well-being.

ADHD Therapists
Some children and adults with ADHD find it difficult to concentrate on tasks at school or work and may daydream frequently. Children with ADHD may become disruptive, defiant, or have trouble getting along with parents, peers, or teachers. Children who struggle with hyperactivity and impulsivity, in particular, often have behavioral challenges that can be difficult for adults to manage. Adults, on the other hand, may be more likely to report feeling restless or fidgety; if they struggle with impulsivity, they may make rash decisions that adversely affect their life. For both children and adults, executive functioning (planning, emotional regulation, and decision-making) is often affected as well. Many children and adults display either hyperactive or inattentive symptoms of ADHD, but it’s also possible for both sets of symptoms to exist together, in what is typically called combined type ADHD.

If you're looking for an Annapolis ADHD therapist, these professionals provide ADHD therapy and counseling in Annapolis.
