For me, there is no ideal client. To some extent, everyone is on a spectrum of depression and anxiety, and I seek to work with clients who need assistance becoming oriented toward improvement. I have personal and professional experience and understand how difficult it is to find someone patient enough to grow alongside a client through the therapeutic process. I want to work alongside you to help you live a happy, meaningful life with these conditions.

Come laugh, cry, learn, process, and everything in between with me. Have you ever felt stuck in a rut and desired an accountability partner to help guide you back out? Or what about misunderstood or unaccepted by the people you're closest to? Anxious about making decisions or initiating tasks? I could keep going, but you get the point. Life throws us curveballs throughout our unpredictable journeys and having professional support from a mental health therapist can certainly help. Hi, my name is Dotty and I am trauma certified to help clients set goals to be accomplished within a pre-determined time frame, then I act as their account

I work with adults with a gamut of issues, including PTSD, anxiety, depression and chronic pain.
My mission as a therapist is to create a completely non-judgmental, loving container in which your transformation unfolds. I believe that all mental—and many physical—health “symptoms” are all parts of us with good intentions, calling frantically for our loving attention. I believe in healing, not coping. We are so much more than a diagnosis and a bundle of symptoms; we are so much more than our pain and trauma. I believe that in each of us resides a marvelous, pure, all-loving essence that is the home base of our healing. My role, as the therapist, is to simply guide you there.

Living in a way that is out of sync with your needs, values and goals has left you feeling depleted, unsatisfied, and out of touch with what’s important to you. You worry that you aren’t doing enough but struggle to find the motivation to do things differently. When you’re on your game, you’re laser-focused, energized and creative, but it never seems to last. No matter how hard you try, you can’t stay focused on what you want to, struggle to follow through on commitments, and are constantly overwhelmed. You’re tired of being stressed and frustrated, crave meaningful relationships, and want desperately to live to your potential.

I am trained in diagnostic evaluation and psychoeducation, as well as the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT) to treat anxiety, trauma, stress, behavioral difficulties, and depression.
My ideal client would put as much effort as they are ready to in that moment, day, or week to continue prioritizing their mental health needs. Over time, I hope to support each person in identifying what is helpful vs. harmful to their overall well-being. I look forward to supporting individuals navigating life transitions, women's issues, those in need of validation and perspective-taking, struggling with anxiety, searching for answers and healing from traumatic experiences, feeling "stuck," and individuals hoping for support with executive functioning challenges, sensory challenges, or complex social interactions.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
