I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker, Clinical (LCSW-C) offering individual and couples counseling to adults navigating personal goals and mental health concerns.
The first session is less about diving deep and more about getting to know each other. You can think of it as a conversation — one where I'm genuinely curious about you, what brought you to therapy, and what you're hoping to get out of it.

Succeeding in school, work, parenting, and relationships is hard enough with a “typical” brain.
Currently accepting clients for psychological/psychoeducational assessments with expected completion prior to school year 2026-27. These comprehensive assessments help to clarify conditions like Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, and Giftedness. But, more importantly, they provide information about a person’s unique pattern of strengths and weaknesses to drive targeted supports. A private assessment is helpful when the degree of impairment does not meet the threshold of educational or medical “necessity”, but you know that there has got to be an explanation for the mismatch between effort and outcomes.

When you or a loved one is struggling it can be hard to know where to start in bringing about positive change. It may seem like the strategies you are using to make things better just aren’t working, which can lead to feeling stuck, hopeless and uncertain. I believe therapy should be a collaborative and safe space to work together on better understanding how your thoughts, emotions and behaviors interact, with the goal being to find strategies and solutions that help you to live a life consistent with your values. Specializing in eating disorders and co-occurring disorders, I particularly enjoy working with young adults.

I believe that we all have a clear sense of what we want or need in life—whether it’s peace, joy, love, or meaningful connections. However, the path to achieving these goals can sometimes be unclear, especially when life presents unexpected challenges or when our own thoughts, behaviors, and habits create obstacles. In such cases, change is often necessary.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
