Dr. Maxwell specializes in treating chronically turbulent emotions, as well as difficulties relating comfortably and effectively to others. Sometimes these experiences go along with a feeling of not knowing who one is, as well as making rash choices one often regrets. These experiences may or may not be related to abuse(s) and/or neglect experienced in one’s childhood and teenage years. Clinically, these experiences sometimes manifest as personality disorders and/or complex posttraumatic stress disorder. He also helps people curb unruly anxiety, combat avoidance, disrupt depressive thinking patterns, and reshape unhelpful habits.
Cornell- and Columbia-trained, Dr. Maxwell provides expert CBT and psychodynamic therapy (e.g., transference-focused psychotherapy). He tailors his specific approaches to the wants and needs of each person. He also offers group therapy for anxiety co-facilitated by doctoral students under his supervision, as he is an adjunct associate professor at KCU.
Committed to maximizing accessibility of services for busy people, MPS, L.L.C. offers in-person and virtual sessions. In-person appointments are available during standard business hours. Dr. Maxwell's colleague, Ms. Tracie Schardein, LPC, offers online sessions and is available now. Please ask his office for more information about Tracie's availability.

The Brave Unknown: Facing Uncertainty and Anxiety
Maxwell Psychological Services, L.L.C. is pleased to offer The Brave Unknown, an uncommon, online, skills-based, CBT/supportive psychotherapy group for adults and adolescents with high anxiety stemming from difficulties coping with uncertainty in daily life. The more we are bothered by not knowing, the more we are vulnerable to stress and unhealthy patterns that can stop us from achieving the fulfilling lives we desire. The Brave Unknown can help us dare to live with, perhaps even embrace, uncertainty and its myriad possibilities.
