About
The fact that you're now seeking to find just the right therapist for yourself tells me you've already begun the process of confronting your personal obstacles. As a therapist, one of the first things I do-—collaboratively-—is to help you more concretely define the specific goals you wish to achieve. I then shape my interventions to help you locate the strengths and understandings that, further developed, will most efficiently enable you to accomplish this. The goals themselves might relate to solving a particular problem; improving, or changing, your relationship; healing from past psychological wounds; or perhaps improving your self-image generally.
I've been working with people professionally now for some 37 years. During this time span, I've learned how to quickly determine what merits our greatest therapeutic attention. My preference is to gather as much relevant information as possible, so that we can devise a treatment plan most likely to succeed.
What I often find is that clients lack the clarity to pinpoint what underlies their immediate problem(s), and what solutions (given their values) would work best for them. I take great pride in prompting them--and hopefully you, too--to develop the confidence, knowledge, and insight to effectively resolve the issues you came in with.
