After 37 years in practice, I continue to witness the power of "the talking cure". Through use of language, while relating to a therapist, we come to know ourselves intimately and are able to discover what is at the root of painful thoughts, feelings and actions. Feeling seen, heard, understood and accepted is key to restoring hope as well as alleviating pain and suffering. Deep and abiding change can occur because an authentic relationship with a caring, and skilled, therapist allows for exploration, and working through, of painful, scary and difficult feelings.
I see individuals 12 years+, couples, families experiencing anxiety, depression, grief/loss, trauma, relational issues, highly sensitive or neurodivergent issues, gender identity, transgender, fertility issues, and divorce. My specialty is getting to know people well enough to help them better know and understand themselves and fulfil their desires.
Uncovering the meaning of symptom/s requires careful exploration... like performing a delicate operation. Once understood, symptoms dissolve over time and are replaced by playful, creative and skilful approaches to living. I believe it is ultimately the therapeutic relationship itself which fosters awareness, healing and change.
