About

I am a psychoanalyst specializing in unconscious, inner conflict in the related structures of brain, mind and self. Patients are often referred to me after previous efforts have felt unhelpful, limited or rendered "stuck" in and out of therapy. My focus is both on the material functioning within awareness and dynamics operating underneath our wish to change. This substance generates felt and unfelt strife within all individuals, regardless of symptoms, situation or diagnosis. That is to say, there is generative MEANING and FUNCTION to any thought, feeling or behavior; we do not operate separate from ourselves.
Accordingly, our work together is in service of striving towards long-lasting resolution, freeing you from stubborn sameness and suffering, and shifting to authenticity and choice. We are gathering MEANING and UNDERSTANDING so as to develop healthy adaptation. It’s about resolving interwoven systems, not solving a problem. It’s about your person and subject.
It is my experience that the most fruitful catalyst in the therapeutic process is to recognize the limits of will and wish. In other words, if we could will ourselves into pleasure, into betterment and out of pain, we would. I wholeheartedly believe that from this starting point, a newfound relationship to your self and your life will emerge.
