Prior to becoming a therapist I worked in emergency medicine for 16 years (14 as a Paramedic and 2 in the ER). After seeing first hand the struggles of individuals in crisis and the devastating impact of trauma on both mind and body, I returned to school and completed my master's in clinical mental health counseling. Because of my background, I believe weaving in education on how mental health impacts general health and vice versa is important.
I offer 30, 45 and 60 minute sessions via telehealth and take most insurances including medicare and medicaid
Working with trauma is my primary focus but I also have experience working with general mental health, families, couples, substance abuse & chronic illness. I enjoy working with individuals from emergency systems, military or medical systems & helping them navigate their struggles & make sense of it. Having someone who has been there & gets it really helps.
I believe that you are your own best expert & my job is to walk with you through the process of sorting & making connections. I believe that therapy should be tailored to the individual & not a cookie-cutter approach. I feel strongly that therapy should be a collaborative and comfortable.
