I work with individuals and couples distressed by work, relationships, life transitions, crises/traumas. I have worked extensively with people in the medical world: individuals with chronic illness, medically induced stress/trauma, parents of a medically ill child, family, caregivers, and medical providers. I create a safe space in which to discover one's authentic self and work collaboratively to help people discover what hinders their happiness. With couples, it is essential to understand oneself, one's partner, and their impact on each other, including the negative cycles of interaction between them.
I work with people confronting medical stress/trauma in their personal lives: illness (incl. Long COVID, post-hospitalization distress, ME-CFS, undiagnosed symptoms), caregivers, parents of a medically ill child; or in their professional lives: physicians, nurses, other health professionals. I founded a group to address COVID-related psychological trauma.
Mind and body are intertwined. Being ill is stressful. Feelings that are difficult to feel and express, or even to let ourselves know we have, can find expression in bodily symptoms, behavior, anxiety, or depression. It is essential to have a safe, protected environment in which to allow one's true feelings and self to emerge without criticism or judgment.
