How often do we take time to reflect on who we truly are? I firmly believe that a positive sense of self begins with an inner belief that "I MATTER"! I also believe one's mental health is affected by the ability to be honest and hold oneself accountable. As people become more accepting and clearer about who they are and how they want to be in the world, they are more capable of finding contentment and joy in their lives. We do the very best we can in any given moment; being kind and gentle with yourself is key when looking within.
Empathy and genuine listening are where we start. My approach to therapy is in Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies to identify thinking patterns and themes, to empower the use of ones voice, to focus mainly on goals and to identify and shift cognitive distortions that are likely to increase anxiety and depression.
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a collaborative one. "Collaborative", to me, means that you and I meet as equal human beings with different experiences, knowledge and expertise. You are the expert on your life. I will bring my empathy and training about human relationships and behavior in the hopes of helping you reach your treatment goal.
