My ideal client is an individual who is motivated to change, but may be stuck in the process. I love working with invested people who desire more out of life. I feel very confident working with individuals who are challenged with depression and/or anxiety, but I most enjoy working with clients who are navigating difficult times in life (relationships, employment, general life changes, etc.). I want to work with people who are intent on learning and growing in a positive direction.
I have a great ability to connect with people. Counseling is about creating a healthy connection in an environment of safety. I am aware of my limitations and not afraid to refer a client else where, if that is best for them and their treatment. Therapy, must be about the client, not the therapist.
In my counseling, I like to use metaphors to illustrate concepts and ideas. I have developed these helpful metaphors over years of practice and when applicable, I love to share these with my clients. Most importantly, I love to empower my clients. Not only with improved mental health, but with practical skills and knowledge.
