I am a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience providing care from a relational perspective. Working from a relational analytic/interpersonal approach implies many different things, but perhaps the most central is that the nature of the treatment I provide will always depend on your needs, and typically only become apparent after a nonjudgmental and deeply collaborative exploration of your experience. Put simply, I assume that successful treatment requires me coming to understand your experience and value commitments in a deeply nuanced fashion, as opposed to applying generic treatment strategies.
Another significant component of a relational approach to treatment is my presence as an emotionally available, interactive, and transparent person in the room. I am not a “blank slate” in sessions, and find it inherently rewarding to maintain a warm curiosity about different folks’ variety of experiences.
As a rule, I do not charge for the initial (in-person, hour long) consultation session, and use it as an opportunity for both the client and I to assess whether we appear to be a good match for treatment.
