Compassion is a basic human need that often goes unfulfilled. When we don’t get it from others, it’s no wonder we are our own toughest critic. We refer to ourselves in harsh terms we would likely not use with friends and family. We feel stuck, alone, hopeless. Reaching out for help is hard, but continuing the emotional suffering is even harder. My clients have described me as approachable, compassionate, & non-judgmental. My goal is to help you explore & process unhealthy patterns of thinking and behavior while learning new healthy ways to regulate your emotions, communicate with others, & to stand firm in your decision-making.
Depending on your needs & goals, I may incorporate evidence-based techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, & Motivational Interviewing. I am trained in EMDR with focus on maladaptive attachment, meaning I help you to uncover & clear negative beliefs you might have developed from memories & previous traumatic experiences.
I have experience working with adults & adolescents with concerns such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems, mood & personality disorders, confidence/self-esteem, trauma, grief/loss, & substance/alcohol abuse. I also have a passion supporting clients struggling with gender identity & sexual orientation concerns to navigate associated challenges.
