Matthew David Stephan, Marriage & Family Therapist Intern in Tarzana
Are you or your child suffering from addiction? Feeling overwhelmed or stuck? Unable to manage the stress of life? It is my mission to help you find permanent, lasting solutions to the issues you bring to therapy. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Registered Intern specializing in child therapy, addiction, and anxiety. My approach posits that people internalize unreasonable social standards, ultimately leading to unrealistic expectations and ideals, and that we have the freedom and responsibility to choose the direction of our lives. As a therapist, it is my job to help people help themselves.
I take a Collaborative, Existential approach where I believe clients are the experts of their own lives, and I help them learn to find meaning and purpose in their experiences. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to address irrational beliefs, cognitive distortions, and past trauma.
In the past, I have had experiences with addiction, anxiety, and relationship issues for which therapy has helped me immensely, and so I have made it my life's duty to pay that gift forward to other individuals and families who may be suffering.
