He is also an approved supervisor through the Iowa Board of Behavioral Science. Matt completed his undergraduate studies at Central College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Business Management. It was there that he recognized his giftings and God’s call on his life into the field of counseling, which led him to Wheaton College where he earned his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. Matt’s studies included an emphasis in counseling adults and couples.
After completing his graduate work and clinical internship at Wheaton College in Chicago, he returned to Iowa and worked as a therapist in private practice in the Des Moines area for nine years, providing over 10,000 hours of therapy before opening Kingdom Counseling in 2021. He lives in Van Meter with his wife and four children.
Matt operates from a Biblical framework and offers a faith-based approach to therapy, but meets with couples and individuals from all spiritual backgrounds and walks of life. He draws from several different theories to establish an eclectic set of therapy techniques and tailors his approach to meet the needs of each person he works with.
