Waitlist for new clients
I am writing this note to say hello, to let you know a little about myself, and to tell you about new changes in my practice. I have a Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame and have been working with children and families for 25+ years as a mental health counselor, and before that, as a school psychologist. My role is changing, and my focus is now more on working with adults. In the fall of 2023, I will be offering individual journal sessions.
Journaling is a combination of responding to my questions about your emotional experiences and sharing your own knowledge. Journaling is a two-way street where we both learn from each other. When we both know more from your perspective and mine, a relationship develops where we move forward with different types of problem solving and greater awareness.
I will also offer this journaling process to help with parent training. Finally, I will be using my book Hope & Knowledge for short reading assignments. The book will be available on Amazon by July or August 2023. If you are interested in starting sessions or have questions, please let me know.

Hope & Knowledge Training

This group is really more of a class. Actually, there are two different classes: one for parents and one for professionals. The goal of the class is to teach the Hope & Knowledge program for communication and problem solving. Some study is involved, but most of the work is hands-on learning. We begin by focusing on a few core ideas from psychology: stress, unconscious motivation and ego defenses, and cycles of social interaction. Knowledge of these three areas can greatly increase understanding of complex, troubling behavior. Greater knowledge helps to improve communication and solve problems more effectively.
