Welcome! I'm Matt McKenzie, PhD, LPC-S, and I provide a collaborative, compassionate space for you to explore and harness your strengths in navigating life’s expected and unexpected challenges. With extensive experience supporting individuals through trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, and relationship-building, I use an integrative approach rooted in motivational interviewing (MI) and incorporating EMDR, existential, gestalt/psychodrama, narrative, solution-focused, and family systems therapies. My approach is to work with you, not on you, in creating a path toward growth and change.
As the son of a firefighter and US Marine and brother to an active firefighter, I’m especially dedicated to supporting first responders. My involvement in state-wide research seeks to enhance our understanding of their unique mental health needs to serve them more effectively.

Freedom Lies in You (FLY)
Recent data indicate that roughly 1 in 5 veterans experience mental health issues. Group practice owner Matt McKenzie's dad (John L.) was a former U.S. Marine and Hoover fireman who tragically passed away in 2020. We know all too well that those who serve us are often underserved. The purpose of this group is to offer peer-led support groups to our veterans and first responders.
