I work with people who have been made to feel guilty and ashamed by the world around us. We might say they are depressed or anxious or we could say they’re experiencing the negative effects of patriarchy, racism, ableism, transphobia, toxic work cultures, invalidating family environments, etc. These experiences can be incredibly isolating and reaching out is hard when we have been told that our emotions are a weakness to be feared. I provide a non-judgmental space to name and process the grief inherent in these experiences. I do this work because I like helping people relearn how to trust their emotions and love themselves.
Therapy requires a safe relationship, which can be hard if you don’t know anything about me. I’m a mixed race, cisgender man. I play video games, run, watch cartoons and old movies, read manga and listen to a lot of pop music. I worry about politics and the environment as well as my health. I am also very passionate about my work as a therapist.
I find it very difficult to say it all in 1,360 characters or less. Similarly, I know you can’t share everything you want to on an intake form.
