Feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or constant worry can make even getting out of bed feel exhausting. For many children of immigrants, anxiety & depression are shaped by cultural expectations, family pressures, and the need to hold multiple identities at once. You may be asking yourself, Am I American enough? Desi enough? Others may feel overwhelmed by their present responses to trauma experienced in the past. EMDR is an effective approach for many clients seeking relief from trauma symptoms, anxiety or complicated losses they are struggling to grieve. I personalize my approach for each client.
I work with first-generation immigrants, South Asians, Muslim clients, women, and young adults, and I also support those navigating women’s health concerns and chronic pain. As a first-generation immigrant, I understand the balance between assimilation and cultural expectations and can help you navigate dual identities while building clarity and confidence.
If these struggles feel familiar, I want you to know that taking the first step is brave. I’d be honored to support you as you grow self-acceptance, strengthen coping skills, and move toward feeling grounded, confident, and more like yourself again.
