My name is Mary Sheppard and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My overall approach to therapy is person centered, and I believe all individuals are unique and have their own personal values and ideals that can support self fulfillment. My therapeutic approach is heavily influenced by a humanistic theoretical framework. I also work in an integrated systems approach that is solution focused with a heavy emphasis on trauma, adverse childhood experiences, grief and loss and families with inter generational trauma.
My client focus has been victims of trauma, grief, loss and separation. I have experience with clients who are impacted by stress, anxiety, depression, impulse control and panic disorders. I first seek to understand with engaging with clients.
I believe people are experts in their own lives, and it is my role to give them the tools to identify the best solutions to their challenges and to their successes. My main communication style is active listening and validation.
