What you are going through matters. Your pain is heavy and weighing you down. Life is not easy to navigate and we all need support from time to time. At first, I will help carry that weight with you while we process the source of your pain, increase your coping skills, confront those intrusive thoughts or all the above. Whatever your unique issue is, know that you have someone that genuinely cares to help you through it. For couples- we will work together to increase communication and conflict resolution skills. If you are both willing to seek therapy together, you have won half the battle already.

Perhaps underlying trauma has manifested into anxiety, depression, substance abuse, or self-harming behaviors and you're looking for someone who specializes in EMDR.
Making sure my clients understand how trauma impacts the brain and body is pivotal. By offering EMDR therapy to my clients, I help them to heal from their traumas without leaving them vulnerable to re-experiencing or re-living it. Instead of feeling shame, we can learn to recognize signs of distress in the body and apply skills for calming that distress.

I also work with PTSD and Complex Trauma using a stage-based treatment approach incorporating clinical hypnosis.
If something doesn't feel quite right in your life, in how you're handling important relationships, how you're coping with feelings, or how you're progressing with goals; if you feel there are parts of yourself you don't fully understand, and you ready for this to change, then we'll be a good match. I believe psychotherapy requires working together to build understanding and accomplish change. For this, a strong patient-therapist relationship is essential; I am active, involved, responsive, open and communicative. Patients feel they know me, and they experience me as committed to knowing them.

I use Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat mind/body dysregulation or PTSD.
Each one of us is on a journey towards healing. I provide a safe, caring environment for adults to slow down, find their center, and make space for what needs attention. Learning to become safely embodied is a vital step towards healing. My preferred approach is Hakomi, a body-centered mindfulness that gently explores how each client organizes their own life experience. Through this moment-to-moment mind/body exploration, not only are core beliefs and protective strategies revealed, but also pathways towards change. Our own natural instinct towards healing awaits our readiness to unfold.

My clients tend to have a variety of concerns: trauma, anxiety, big feelings, relationships, anxiety, procrastination, perfectionism, navigating multiple cultures and intersectional identities, undergraduate and graduate school challenges.
I like to understand my clients’ concerns in the context of current and past daily life, surrounding people, culture, and sociopolitics. Having a better understanding of new and old underlying patterns within ourselves and around us is important. We can honor them and be intentional about how to navigate through them. Sometimes I can relate!

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
