As a trauma therapist, my principal in helping my client is to ensure their safety within their bodies, to experience the emotion without the sense of threat, to distinguish the past and the present, to complete the unresolved body response to past trauma , and to challenge unhelpful thought process that creates utter hopelessness and helplessness.
Over the years, I've heard many clients express a sense of imprisonment within their bodies or being 'stuck.' One client would describe "being everywhere but nowhere" to portray the discord between the mind and body. Furthermore, I have encountered numerous clients who went through multiple therapy sessions in the past---only to find out that the change was not enough or even uncomfortable and confusing. As for young clients, their unspoken pain manifests in traces of scars from self-harm and other destructive behaviors. For many of them, the traumatic past has become their present stories.

My background in psychology, neuroscience, and social work provides a rich perspective on the effects of trauma and stress on our brains, minds, and bodies.
Therapy with me will provide a safe, warm, nonjudgmental, identity-affirming space where you will feel fully heard and understood. Within a feminist, anti-oppressive, trauma -centered framework we will explore how past and present experiences have shaped the distress, anxiety, anger, or hopelessness you may be carrying. We will explore how you cope with this and why some coping strategies may be further contributing to the stress/distress carried in your brain and body. Together we will work towards healing, growth and developing a greater understanding and compassion for yourself and your journey.

I have extensive experience working with trauma and relationship issues, anxiety, and mood disorders.
So often people feel stuck or trapped by life circumstances, relationships, or their own thoughts and feelings. I believe therapy can be a wonderful resource to help provide healing, learn new coping skills, and develop greater self-awareness and strength. Therapy can help you learn how to actually live your life rather than just "white knuckling it." If you are feeling stuck and wonder if therapy can be helpful, I encourage you to call. I provide a safe environment for individuals and couples so that a collaborative relationship develops and change can occur.

I also treat people who have suffered trauma or abuse during their childhoods, have a history of emotional neglect, suffer from eating issues, or struggle with a mood disorder.
I think it's very important to find a therapist who is a GOOD FIT for you with your unique needs. While I think psychodynamically, which means that I focus on helping my clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships, I tend to be pragmatic and problem solving. My style is professional, yet relaxed and I'm appreciated for being both compassionate and having a sense of humor in my work. I see my patients in individual psychotherapy and very frequently in group therapy as well. Please note that I am only accepting new patients for group therapy.

**Telehealth Available** I know that you have a "pretty good" life. Perhaps you have done some work in therapy before, and things are finally stable. Yet, you sometimes feel like you are playing a part, rather than embracing and expressing your authentic self. You may feel uncomfortable in your own skin, self-conscious, or like you are not "enough." You may struggle to find your authentic voice and honor your values in your relationships or career. Life circumstances, societal pressures, past trauma , depression, and anxiety can all create obstacles to experiencing inner peace, trust, and confidence.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a psychological reaction that occurs after an extremely stressful event, such as physical violence or military combat. Those suffering from PTSD have recurring memories of the stressful event and are anxious or scared even in the absence of danger. Flashbacks and nightmares are common symptoms as well.
