Maryellen Smolenski holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Kentucky, a master’s degree in expressive therapy from the University of Louisville and a bachelor’s degree in art and psychology from Southern Connecticut State University. She has 40 years of clinical experience working in residential, in-patient and private practice with groups and individuals. She was an adjunct faculty member serving on thesis review committees, conducting graduate seminars and teaching classes in therapy practice with several local universities.
She is certified in clinical hypnosis, EMDR, art and expressive therapy and has advanced training in DBT and trauma focused CBT. She provides clinical psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults.
She has extensive experience helping individuals, families, and couples who have difficulty dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, grief and loss, PTSD, and complex trauma.
