Therapy is a relationship that is sacred and unique. I bring a deep curiosity to my work with clients, and have an interactive style that fosters trust and safety as the basis for the work we will do together. I am an LCSW with over three decades of experience in helping people to heal, become more whole, and to lead more satisfying lives professionally and interpersonally. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, low self esteem, childhood trauma and neglect, LGBTQ issues, intimacy and relationship issues. I will be interested in working with your strengths and have enormous respect for how you have coped thus far.
The most important relationship we will ever have is with ourselves and how we respond to our own emotions; until we can learn self acceptance-with all of our flaws-we cannot change. As the psychologist Carl Rogers said “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change”.
I work with client’s self limiting beliefs and what the psychologist Tara Brach named “The trance of unworthiness” which often develops in response to the early environment. This false belief that many carry of somehow being defective or bad, once explored, connects to the deeper human need for love and acceptance, and is a gateway to self compassion.
