Hello - my name is Mary Van Hooser. I am an older therapist with lots of experience working with a wide variety of mental health struggles. I am easy to engage with, like to listen and enjoy helping you explore and process the concerns you're having in a non-judgmental manner. I am a wife, mother of grown children and have young grandchildren. I have lots of siblings, one having a chronic mental illness that has made me particularly non-judgmental and understanding of the impact this has on families. I admire those who reach out for help and see them as taking a huge step which takes courage.
This is usually a get to know each other session such as basic information about your life, why you are wanting therapy, what are your goals for therapy. Most people tell me they are comfortable with me and I am easy to talk to.
I really have no preference. I work well with all clientele. I prefer individual counseling and don't see couples together.
