Hello! My name is Mary, and I am a licensed professional counselor here at Rocktown Counseling. Demographics that I work with include children, teens, and young adults. I have a special place in my heart for those who struggle with depression and anxiety, and I love working with the neurodivergent population, particularly those with autism. I also work with those having difficulty with new changes in their lives, or who just need a listening ear. I offer a range of options for therapy, as I like to pull techniques from multiple therapeutic approaches and tailor them to the client's needs.
Some of my most widely-used techniques are incorporating cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, art, and play into my sessions. I am a big proponent of making counseling as comfortable a process as possible for the client.
Having gone to therapy myself, I know it can be difficult to put yourself out there and express hardships and emotions that maybe otherwise would have been bottled up.
