Cognitive therapy is the process of working together to create a strong foundation for both emotional well-being and life. Core building blocks for a solid foundation include changing distorted thoughts, altering irrational behaviors, learning physiological soothing skills (such as meditation and HRV breathing) and using methods of emotional regulation. It is also essential for a person to learn to embrace a sense of unconditional worth, to grow a sense of purpose, and to live by one's values/virtues. CBT is less about searching for insight and more about practicing strong habits, that over time, lead to deep satisfaction.
My therapy practice places a very strong emphasis on cognitive-behavioral skills, in addition to EMDR, emotional regulation methods, mindfulness, and physiological soothing strategies. Neurofeedback is a very effective treatment to address mood and is available at this office.
