My 35 years of clinical experience have taught me that clients often face many life challenges at the same time. These include problems with depression and anxiety, substance abuse or other addictive behaviors and interpersonal conflicts of many types. We all strive to achieve some measure of life satisfaction and happiness, at times needing support and guidance as to how we can view these challenges differently and make new and healthier choices to improve chances of reaching our goals.
My approach to helping clients involves establishing a safe, supportive and trusting therapeutic relationship based on mutual respect and creating motivation for positive change. This includes customizing a practical, solution-focused plan with each client which recognizes their unique strengths and challenges.
My lengthy professional experience as a psychotherapist as well as my life experience as a husband, father, and grandfather have all contributed to a sense of gratitude and humility as well as an appreciation of how difficult life can sometimes be.
