Hello, my name is Martin Alfaro, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). My approach to providing evidence-based clinical services to clients embraces a strengths-based, client-centered, problem-solving modality. My focus area of practice ensures that the client’s voice and choice are heard to ensure a collaborative, empowering, and transformative therapeutic journey. My therapeutic approach stems from evidence-based practices that highlight, strengthen, and challenge the knowledge, skills, and abilities that already exist in each client.
Some of the theoretical approaches that I utilize to assist clients with reaching their personal goals include but are not limited to, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Problem-Solving Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, and therapeutic confrontation.
A particular method I ensure to utilize with clients when developing goals is the S.M.A.R.T. method. Each goal that is developed must be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time bound. Utilizing this method will increase the client’s ability to measure, attain, and sustain their personal treatment progress.
