I work from a person-centered approach that draws from other theoretical techniques designed to address your individual needs and goals. The process of counseling is to understand you as a unique person; explore and gain insight into your thoughts, feelings, experiences, and behavior; and enhance quality of life by implementing parts of the counseling process into your daily living. COVID-19 Online Counseling available. I believe two of the most impactful ways of pursuing healing and growth are through psychotherapy and personal story work. In therapy, we use the therapeutic relationship to identify the places where you feel stuck in order to both gain a deeper awareness and learn tools to move forward. In personal story work, we look at specific narratives from your past in order to discover unique themes, explore who you have become, and intentionally pursue who you long to be as your story unfolds.

I am interested in the meanings that you make from your life experiences and the influence that these have on your perspectives of yourself, your relationships, and your future. I find that viewing problems as separate from personhood helps to lessen feelings of guilt and shame so that we can work together in a collaborative environment. My training in family systems theory informs my view of people in the context of their relationships, environment, and culture. I consider it a privilege to work with people to bring about the changes they desire in their lives and relationships.

Change, though necessary and unavoidable, is never easy. Though our resistance to change is a normal reaction I believe that these moments of our life can be an opportunity to see ourselves and our world in a new and more inclusive way.
