I like to start by building trust and finding out what goals you want to set for yourself. A safe, encouraging atmosphere with no authoritarian or shaming attitudes is important. Humor is useful with couples, families or teens. Role-plays are a fun way to practice new relationship skills.
Often our relationships take on patterns that repeat throughout our lives, and finding those patterns can help us change. For parenting I like to use skill building; when a parent knows what they are going to do, they tend to be able to stay patient.
It is wonderful to see the relief on couple's faces when they realize it is going to be much easier than they thought, more romance is going to return to their relationship, and sex will be better!

Groups
Men's Group
Online therapy group for men in difficult relationships, working on anxiety or depression, or sexual addiction recovery. This is a small online group meeting twice a month. Group members are not expected to talk until they feel they trust the group members. The group's purposes are: to empathize with each member's difficult situation, so the person can become more creative in examining and solving their problems. The therapist might ask a member if they have had similar issues in the past, especially with one's original family. Sometimes seeing patterns helps free the person up to act differently.
