I adhere mainly to principles from cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy and work hard to empower clients to find solutions to their problems by building their own strengths and by focusing on the person as a whole. Learning new ways to think and new perspectives about our world around us makes a big difference in our finding success and strength to change course when we are feeling a little confused and lost about life.

I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Brigham Young University and a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Phoenix. I have been a director over substance abuse and mental health programs, working with a variety of clients. I am experienced in adult and adolescent addiction, depression, anxiety, PTSD, interpersonal and relationship issues, personality disorders, and victim issues stemming from all areas of abuse; as well as additional training in trauma and domestic violence. One of my passions is running a Women's Empowerment group, which I have done for the last six years.

I primarily focus on work with couples, individuals and parent-teen dyads and triads (parent and teen or both parents and teen). I enjoy helping clients work on a variety of therapeutic goals including bettering/fortifying romantic and family relationships, coping with depression, anxiety, suicidality, self-worth/self-esteem, as well as overcoming trauma, grief and loss, seeking a full and rich life, becoming your best self and navigating the ups and downs of life.

At one time or another we all tend to lose our way. Finding our way back can be difficult. Courage is the ability to do the things we don't enjoy so we can then feel better and accomplish more. Do you, your spouse or child struggle with pornography addiction/compulsion? Overcoming a behavior that's been going on for years is not usually done alone. These individuals typically need to learn real "in the moment" management skills to avoid slips/relapses with pornography while also targeting other factors which also may be driving/influencing the behavior. This is more than teaching a simple coping skill. I also work with the spouse/parents to help manage their needs and possible trauma to the discovery of these behaviors.

Our typical clients are those with issues of sexual dysfunction. This includes those with issues of sexual desire, arousal, orgasm, pain, satisfaction, or out-of-control sexual behavior/addiction. Most of my clients are from a conservative religious background, but this is not a must. We see clients that have a range of personal beliefs and values. We meet regularly with individuals and couples. Meeting as a couple is not a must. Individuals dealing with sexual dysfunction or out-of-control sexual behavior/addiction that are not in a committed relationship are also welcomed in treatment. We also have a Spanish speaking therapist.
