Hi there! My name is Dr. Ana Alicia Potthast, DSW, LCSW, LCDC. I have a passion for mental health care and substance abuse treatment, and I have extensive experience and training in behavioral health, diagnostics, addiction, co-occurring disorders, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, trauma, domestic violence, sexual abuse and assault, maternity and fertility issues, grief and loss, hoarding, family dynamics and conflict, marital issues, sexual orientation and gender identification and expression, adjustment issues, stages in life, and many other situations that bring a client to seek counseling.

Counselors Of Texas/Side by Side Wellness Center is one of the largest private counseling groups in Central Texas with offices located in Austin Killeen and Round Rock. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Texas and New Mexico, offering a personable approach to psychotherapy for Couples & Individuals. I have experience working with all types of mental health disorders in various settings (individual, group, couples, family). My focus is on personal wellness for the individual and the family system. My goal is to work on the issues at hand using the most up to date research proven methods. I am passionate about empowering clients to find their voice & gain insight in a supportive & non-judgmental environment.

My goal is to help individuals and couples achieve peace and contentment by increasing self-awareness and recognizing behaviors that no longer serve them. I make it my aim to partner with clients on their journey, identify their strengths, help distinguish areas for growth, and provide clients with non-judgmental support along the way. I believe that strong and fulfilling relationships with other individuals can help people maintain emotional well-being. I have 20+ years of experience in mental health, including individual, marriage, group counseling, crisis intervention, and substance abuse assessments.

Bolivar is a native of South Florida, where he attended Florida State University’s School of Social Work. His studies focused on child welfare and cultural studies. He graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Social Work. Immediately following his undergraduate studies, Bolivar knew his life’s work would be helping youth overcome trauma and strengthen families. These passions led Bolivar to a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Child Welfare Studies.

No one should feel alone when experiencing pain. I am passionate about walking alongside people on their healing journey. I meet you where you are, create a personalized care plan, and encourage you every step of the way as you develop skills that can be used in many seasons of life.

The person I’m feel best able to work with is someone that has dealt with significant trauma or serious difficulties in their life, due to chronic health or family issues. But they are now interested in working to overcome the impact of these issues on them and their life. Since this person has made an active decision to begin the change process I want to be able to provide support and guidance to them in starting this process. I will work with them to support them in whatever direction they choose to go in their journey. I will also work with LPC-Associates to provide them with competent support, as they start their career.

Life can be rough, and sometimes we need a little help getting by and coping. I have always been led to help people, and have found my calling in counseling people through their trials. I have worked with individuals of various ages and issues. My goal is to help you build coping skills to get you over the challenges in your daily life and return to a sense of balance and serenity.

I am extremely passionate about guiding people to a better understanding of themselves and "why we do the things that we do". Our perspective dictates our emotional reactions to situations and therefore it affects our behavior; let me help you gain control of your reactions and change your thoughts!
