Do you have more questions than answers, more confusion than explanation, or feel lost? Is your sadness, anxiety, anger, shame, grief, or guilt keeping you from doing the simplest tasks? Perhaps your pain drives you to cope in harmful or dangerous ways, but you'll do anything to feel something... or to feel nothing. Maybe you are searching to rediscover yourself as you transition through a significant life change like retirement, graduating, divorce, marriage, or starting a new job.

My name is Judith Kasznica and I work with adults, men and women, who have struggles from depression, anxiety, self-esteem, anger, loss of purpose, marriage issues, past abuse, trauma, and many others.
Suffering is hard. When you go through depression, sadness, anxiety, anger, confusion, relationships, and other challenges, it starts to affect our days, weeks, months, and years. I understand the importance of how this pain can affect day to day life, and often we may start to have a hard time enjoying even the good parts of our life. Wanting to be heard, and understood, and then creating a path of healing, change, and growth are often the goals people have to better enjoy their lives, find peace and happiness within their own lives and their relationships.

A large part of my practice is doing marital therapy.
I have always viewed my work as a therapist as an honor and privilege to walk alongside individuals, couples and families to address some of their most sensitive and intimate struggles they've experienced in life. I work with clients ranging in age from high school into late adulthood. I have extensive experience working with marital and relationship problems, infidelity, divorce issues, those who might struggle with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, family of origin issues and trauma of abuse. I also have a special heart for those who have endured medical illness. Working as a therapist is my passion.

I am best at helping people find their purpose, build themselves up from rock bottom, and to help people move from being stuck surviving into someone that is thriving in life's journey. Life circumstances and mental wellness varies when someone walks into my office, but I have witnessed people completely transform. One evidence based and effective approach I use is EMDR in both individual and group settings to move past trauma when feeling stuck in the healing process. When you need emotional healing, I am able to provide direction, understanding, and jump start a person's ability to take on the next life challenge.

I consider it a privilege to be able to come along side an individual or couple in their journey towards healing. As a therapist, I value creating and holding a nonjudgemental, confidential and safe space to allow for healing and growth. There are many reasons someone might seek therapy. Therapy can help navigate life transitions, treat mental health concerns, address trauma and be a place of support. I believe that expanding self awareness through personal reflection can increase self agency, confidence and relational satisfaction.

Marriage Counseling Therapists

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
