We all have difficult times in our lives, and our reactions and thoughts can lead to or exacerbate anxiety, depression, and other unhealthy disorders. I work with teens and up, and I have extensive experience working with college students to help them find balance, motivation, and overcome their fears of "adulting." I use CBT, REBT and Reality Therapy. I believe it's not so much about negative experiences we have as it is about our ideas about these experiences. I teach how to reframe, set boundaries, and change how clients perceive situations to help reduce or remove negative emotions so they can live full and happy lives.

I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC), Licensed Professional Counselor, (LPC), and a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in South Carolina with 14 years of extensive counseling experience treating anxiety, depression, drug/alcohol abuse/addiction, trauma (all types), existential crises, grief, relationship struggles, anger, and difficulties related to religious and spiritual matters.

Good therapeutic work is often messy in my experience, usually accompanied by tears and laughter (often in the same session, but no guarantees). I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have worked in private practice in the Clemson area for over twenty years. My practice includes adults, adolescents, families, and couples. With over 16 years experience as a licensed therapist, I'm passionate about building rapport and, from this basis, providing high-quality treatment. In working with couples, I maintain a good therapeutic relationship with both clients and take a balanced approach where each partner is empowered to speak up and share in their progress. When working with anxious clients, I assist clients in defining what anxiety is and what it does so that they can recognize and challenge it as they develop new coping skills. In treating trauma, I help clients feel empowered to step into their work before starting Brainspotting or EMDR sessions.

My practice is limited to males 11 and up. Focus areas include boyhood, adolescence, masculinity and sexual health. We pretend boys don't experience the same degree of emotions compared to girls but in reality we don't teach boys how to identify, process and express emotions. It's little wonder substance abuse, domestic violence, violent crimes, road rage, communication/relationship problems and silent emotional suffering are at epidemic levels. Anger, depression, anxiety, poor self-esteem are rampant.

I am passionate about children, teens, and parents. I chose to specialize in Child Clinical Psychology because I find children and adolescents to be fun to work with and incredibly strong and inspiring. I particularly enjoy working with those with anxiety and mood difficulties, and have extensive experience working with those with a history of traumatic experiences including abuse. Psychologists are extensively trained in both diagnostics - identifying disorders - and therapy, as well as how to use one to guide the other. I gather information from all areas of child's life to understand the child as a whole person.
