I see therapy as a process of exploration, which is enabled by a safe and supportive space, allowing clients to examine past and present challenges, reach insights, identify patterns, and process life’s transitions and relationships. I work with adults who feel that the challenges they face are unnecessarily burdened by their past and unresolved experiences and relationships, and with those who seek to better understand themselves, their difficulties, their connections — and wish to work towards positive change.
My training and orientation are mainly psychodynamic, but I utilize multiple theories and techniques, including mindfulness, family systems, as well as my background in cultural anthropology. I mainly work with grief, stress, anxiety, trauma, immigration and relocation, relationships, as well as LGBTQ+ and couples/family issues.
Having spent many years in diverse academic settings, I often work with people within the academic system, as well as with immigrants or people on temporary relocation. Research shows that the quality of the client–therapist alliance is a reliable predictor of a positive clinical outcome - I encourage you to try to find the therapist that is right for you.
