We construct our emotional world based on our past experience. What we attend to in the present, and what we expect in the future, is also based on our past experience. Our initial work is to understand our past and how it shapes our perceptions of challenges. As we learn how these perceptions came into existence, we then work toward making different choices in our interactions with others. In this manner we attain understanding and acceptance of our "self" and others.
