As a 40-something with 15+ years of clinical experience in Marriage and Family Therapy, I have found that life is a journey of learning filled with twists and turns, many of which are beyond our power and control. It seems that when we are faced with the choices that naturally proceed from this journey, often we choose something not because it aligns with our highest value, but because it protects our unspoken vulnerabilities. If our greatest loyalty lies with our greatest fear or pain, then that fear or pain holds the potential to be either the cage that imprisons us or the opportunity that grows us to a new level of development.

When I first became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist 19 years ago, our understanding of how past traumas and attachment wounds affected us in the present, and how to effectively treat trauma and attachment wounds was very minimal. Since that time, extensive research, studies, theories and practices have broadened our knowledge of trauma's impact on the mind and body and expanded the variety of tools and resources available to support therapists. I can honestly say I have never loved my work as a trauma/attachment-focused therapist more than I do right now.

I have dedicated my over 25-year career to helping those I work with achieve their optimal mental health. I employ an eclectic approach informed by my extensive training in multiple approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (especially Rational Emotive Therapy (REBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy. My focus is individual therapy for those that are age 12 and up, but enjoy working with couples as well.

I feel very blessed to have witnessed healing and growth in many, many clients throughout my career. I believe that counseling is a partnership between the client and therapist to achieve symptom relief and personal growth. I have over twenty years of experience with a significant focus in the area of child abuse and neglect (with both children and adult survivors). My group practice specializes in the treatment of trauma spectrum disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder, dissociative disorders, trauma-related pain, and trauma-related somatic symptoms. Ongoing experiences of verbal, physical, or sexual abuse, neglect, and bullying can lead to these symptoms. Sometimes people suffer these effects because they have experienced chronic invalidation. We treat couples, people in non-traditional partnerships, adolescents who struggle with emotional and behavioral problems. We also treat survivors of sexual violence and targets of workplace bullying.

My ideal client is someone who is seeking to learn and grow while keeping an open mind.
