I believe that we all have issues and struggles in life and there are times when we need a trained professional counselor to help us navigate through life's storms. My philosophy is that every person is responsible to create meaning in their lives and to fulfill our potential as human beings. My approach is empathetic and non-judgmental. It is my goal with every individual, every couple and every family to help facilitate peace, joy and a sense of fulfillment in their lives. Specialized training in couples therapy through The Couples Institute, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) through EMDR International Assoc.

I have over 10 years of clinical experience working with individuals who have gone through trauma as well as with a variety of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, employment issues, relationship issues, etc. I provide great care for individuals of all ages. I believe at one point or another everyone is in need of therapy and it should be a shame-free and non-judgmental environment. I can provide individual, family, marriage and/or premarital therapy. I am formally trained in TF-CBT, PCIT, EMDR and Adoption Competency. I can provide pre- and post-adoption services.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the state of Nevada. I have been practicing for more than 20 years. I have experience working with youth and families, depression and anxiety, as well as in the addictions field. My specialty is treating children and adolescents for issues related to trauma and abuse, as well as emotional and behavioral disturbances. My modalities include play therapy and behavioral therapy with children, as well as cognitive behavioral approach for both young people and adults.

I am a native Nevadan--born, raised, and working in Carson City. I’ve devoted over 25 years to providing support for children and families, individuals and couples--the past six years in a clinical setting. My clients work with me to improve communication skills and interactions. While my primary focus is play therapy, I specialize in teaching parents tools for improving relationships with their children by improving communication skills and increasing patterns of empathy.

I am most interested in helping individuals unlock the transformative energies held in painful intrusive memories, but without re-traumatizing them in the present. I serve adolescents and adults with a variety of mental health concerns, including relationship and attachment issues.

The teen and pre-teen years are some of the best of a person's life. They can also be some of the most challenging. Teens are in a developmental period where distancing from the wisdom of parents is natural, but also scary. When that distance becomes more of a wedge, that's where I can help. Adolescents don't always have the ability to make good decisions for themselves AND they don't like others making those decisions for them. Therapy can be a place of connection and guidance that both children and their families are looking for.
