I am a Missouri licensed clinical social worker with over 6 years experience. I specialize in helping children heal from abuse, primarily focusing on child sexual abuse victims. I also work with children and their parents to resolve behavioral problems. I have experience working in a variety of different settings including a residential treatment program and several nonprofit organizations providing therapy and other services to child victims and their families. I received a bachelor degree in both psychology and sociology at the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Hi, my name is Annette Arms, and I am a licensed professional counselor, and a nationally certified counselor who is EMDR trained living and working in southwest Missouri serving clients throughout the state via telehealth. I work with children, adolescents, young adults, couples, and families. My specialties include working with neurodivergent children and adults, and the approaches I use are person-centered using a variety of integrative approaches such as EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, and Narrative Therapy tailored to each client's individual need(s).

I specialize in working with children and adolescent using creative counseling modalities (e.g., sand play, bibliotherapy, and creative therapeutic techniques), across a multitude of diagnoses and behavioral issues. I believe that for children or adolescents to make meaningful change, they must learn skills by seeing, hearing, and doing them. Additionally, I recognize the importance of parental involvement in the treatment process and provide important tools for parent to use with their child in the home.

We are a counseling practice that serves both adults and children. We offer individual, family, and couples therapy. I know that asking for help can be a difficult process especially when it comes to the mental health of your child. We have all had times in our lives when we and/or our kids needed extra support to be healthier. I am a Private Practice Therapist and a Registered Play Therapist (aka: I have a lot of training and experience counseling kids). I enjoy helping kids who struggle with attachment issues and/or have experienced trauma which is why I am trained in the two evidenced based trauma therapy treatments (TFCBT and EMDR) and in Theraplay Level 1 to grow relational attachment.
